WHO ARE WE?
The Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics (CAPT-ACTP) is a national, not-for-profit association that brings together researchers, policymakers, clinicians, industry leaders, students, and patient partners committed to improving health outcomes for Canadians. We focus on population-based evaluation of therapeutic interventions, bridging research, policy, and practice to support evidence-informed decisions in Canada’s healthcare system.
Our community is intentionally diverse because effective population therapeutics depends on collaboration across disciplines. CAPT-ACTP provides a space where different perspectives meet, debate, and contribute to the advancement of safe, effective, and equitable therapeutic use.
CAPT-ACTP Code of Conduct
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to advance population-based research on therapeutic interventions and strengthen the scientific, policy, and practice environments that support better health outcomes for Canadians. We do this by facilitating open exchange, fostering collaboration, and championing high-quality research and dialogue across sectors.
OUR VISION
Our long-term vision is to be Canada’s recognized leader in linking therapeutic research, population health policy, and real-world practice to optimize health outcomes. CAPT-ACTP aims to be a central, trusted forum where important conversations in population therapeutics take place.
STRATEGIC GOALS
As a primarily volunteer-driven organization, we are dedicated to advancing the study of the effectiveness, safety, utilization, and economic impact of medications, vaccines, medical devices, emerging innovations, and complementary medicines that influence the health and well-being of Canadian populations. Guided by ongoing consultation with our members, partners, and key stakeholders, we aim to:
- Foster Scientific Excellence – Provide a premier forum for the reporting, critical discussion, and dissemination of data derived from population-based studies of drugs and other therapeutic interventions.
- Advance Methodological Innovation – Support the development and refinement of methodologies and resources essential for the rigorous study of therapeutic interventions.
- Empower Evidence-Based Decision-Making – Serve as a trusted information resource for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders in making informed decisions regarding therapeutic interventions.
- Shape Public Health Policy – Advocate for policies that enhance the responsible use of therapeutic interventions and contribute to the improvement of public health outcomes.
By driving collaboration, innovation, and knowledge translation, we strive to influence meaningful advancements in population therapeutics and healthcare policy in Canada.
